Balcaen to Race Full Time in 2021 NASCAR Development Program

February 17, 2021

Shift Up Now Athlete Amber Balcaen announced today that she has earned a full-time ride with Bill McAnally Racing (BMR) in the BMR Drivers Academy, a NASCAR development program.

Balcaen, a third-generation racer who became the first Canadian female to win a NASCAR-sanctioned race in the USA, will tour the West coast for 40 races in the No. 10 car. She’ll be competing for a series championship and the opportunity to race in ARCA and NASCAR Trucks with BMR throughout the 2021 season.

"I am really excited to be racing for Bill McAnally,” said Balcaen. “Bill is very respected in the racing industry and I’m really looking forward to seeing what we can achieve.”

Balcaen, who hails from Winnepeg, Canada, has a new primary sponsor, ICON, a Canadian manufacturer of aftermarket motor home parts, RV parts and custom plastic products.

“I am very honored to be representing two Manitoba companies, ICON and Glen McLeod and Sons Ltd., this year as I transition back to the NASCAR world,” said Balcaen. “It feels amazing to have such great support from my home province. I have put in the work this off season and cannot wait to see what we can accomplish on track.”

Balcaen will kick off the 2021 season in Roseville, California on March 26th. Races will be broadcast live on Speed Sport TV.
